Accident and Incident Procedure

In any emergency situations dial 111 and ask for Ambulance, Police or Fire.

Any accidents, damages, breakdowns, or defects (regardless of cause) must be reported to us immediately. You must also inform the Police if it appears that there has been arson, theft, burglary or malicious damage during your booking.

You are required to complete a Vehicle Incident Key Information form which a form is located in the glove box of the car or you can download a PDF copy here.

You will also need to document any minor damage via the Damages Reporting feature in the mobile app on the return of the vehicle.

In the event of an accident:

  1. Firstly please ensure that everyone is safe, consider other traffic risks and do not put yourself in danger.
  2. For any serious injury or major accident that requires police or fire brigade attention, call 111 for emergency assistance.
  3. For all accidents involving a motor vehicle these should be reported as soon as practical to us on 028 255 63525, via email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or our website contact form: www.goto.nz/contact
  4. Use the Vehicle Incident Key Information form on the back of this page to record all the details about this accident  and return the form to us via email (scan or typed) along with any photos taken, as soon as practical.
  5. Your vehicle has a First Aid Kit, Hi-Viz vest and Fire Extinguisher in the boot. Please use this equipment if required and it is safe and practical to do so.

Please use the Vehicle Incident Key Information form to record the following:

  1. The time and date of the incident
  2. The location of the incident.
  3. The registration number of your vehicle and any other vehicle involved.
  4. A description of the incident, including photographs if possible.
  5. Details of the other parties insurer.
  6. Witness and police office contact details.


You must not allow, arrange, or undertake any car repairs or salvage unless we have approved it, except where the repairs or salvage are necessary to minimise the damage or danger to people, the car or other property.

If the car requires repair or salvage, we have absolute discretion to provide an alternative vehicle or transport solution or terminate the booking immediately.

We will credit any portion of your booking fee that is unused due to your car being unavailable due to an incident in the event that we terminate the booking.
